The Night Of The Horsemans Suit

Product Information

This is a spontaneous evening of unrehearsed rural fun.  It is not ‘folk’ for that is a latter day revival and only a reproduction.  This is horsemen who used the heavy horse ‘in its age’ when it was a necessity and the understanding of the difference is important.

This is horsemen of old who are the authentic participants of their own culture entertaining one another as they only know how and with it displaying their identity – the all important horseman’s suit.  A suit which they and generations before have had bespoke made to their design.  A suit that is distinctly found only here in the county of Suffolk and its borders which as is described herein they were so proud to wear in all their dignity.

Old traditions do not always translate to modern technology, so the sound in places is poor and interference is at a much higher level than in a studio performance which can be sterile.  These background sounds however are all part of the evening so slip ups and the banter that follows have been purposely left in.  This is not a microphone, staged or rehearsed performance and that is the very beauty of it.

The heavy horse of today is only as important as the many traditions of the past that it carries and this evening of song, story and the rejoicing of identity plays a very high part in those traditions.  I hope you will enjoy it and bear with any discrepancies that may seem less than ‘modern’.
